Dr. Jim Hunt
Dr. Jim Hunt has over two decades of experience as a Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Hunt was Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas from May 1999 to March 2015. He then served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas from April 2015 to June 2020. Following his time at McMurry Dr. Hunt began his work with the Registry for College and University Presidents and served as the Interim Provost and Vice-president for Academic Affairs at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia Arkansas from October 2020 until June 2022. He has served as Interim Associate Provost at the University of Texas Permian Basin since July 2022 and recently assumed leadership responsibilities in the College of Education at UTPB.
Dr. Hunt received his Master’s and Doctor of Education degrees from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. His undergraduate degree in education is from Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. Prior to assuming his administrative roles, Dr. Hunt taught elementary and middle school for 12 years and, subsequently, served in the teacher preparation program at Southwestern University.
